33 Best Travel Movies to Keep the Travel Bug within You Alive

Everyone in this world loves exploring new places, but most of us are not able to do so mainly because of our hectic day to day lives. There are a variety of different places in this beautiful world that we have not seen and very few people are able to travel to almost all parts of the world. If you are a travel enthusiast, here is a list of 33 best travel movies that will take you to places you have never seen before, from the comfort of your home.

1. The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir (2018)

The film is about Ajatashatru Lavash Patel who has spent his entire life in a small Mumbai neighbourhood tricking people with street side magic and fakir stunts. He sets out on a voyage to find his estranged father, but in its place gets dragged on a never-ending adventure.

2. Blue Skies, Green Waters, Red Earth (2013)

It is a story of two friends Kasi and Suni who decide to go on a road trip on their bikes from Kerala to Nagaland to find Kasi’s girlfriend. En route this journey, they come across different people who vary their lives forever.

3. Land of the Gods, Dev Bhoomi (2016)

After an extensive exile, Rahul comes back to his village in the Himalayas, which causes turmoil amid the villagers, who have still not forgiven him for his misconducts in the past. You will surely get to enjoy astounding scenery of the great Himalayas in this internationally acclaimed movie.

4. The Darjeeling Limited (2007)

The film revolves around three brothers who decide to take a train trip across India with an intention to get along with each other after their father’s demise.

5. Copenhagen (2014)

Copenhagen is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, which is on the travelling list of tourists from all across the planet. The story line focuses primarily on a guy whose dream girl is half his age and realizes it’s time to grow up.

6. Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

Family trips are not that exciting or easy going as they appear to be and this Hollywood film shows that just about perfectly. In this popular flick, a family decides to get their younger daughter into the last round of a beauty pageant and to reach the destination they take a cross-country voyage in their old VW bus.

7. Land Ho! (2014)

It very rare when we see old age people take a road trip and have a good time and if you are someone wishes to see that on the beautiful roads and exquisite locations of Iceland then Land ho is a must watch. This one is about a pair of ex-brother-in-laws who embark on a trip to Iceland in a Hummer.

8. A Good Year (2006)

All of us wish to have a laidback lifestyle with loads of money by our side and this movie is somewhat similar to that. An investment broker gets his uncle’s cellar and vineyard in Provence, France, and the place where he spent most of his childhood. This is when he gets to experience a new laid-back lifestyle while trying to modernize the estate so that it can be sold at a higher price.

The plot revolves around a father who heads abroad to pick up the body of his estranged son who expired on a trip to the “El camino de Santiago”.

This film is about the chronicles of the motorcycle tour taken by Ben Tyler as he travels from Toronto to Tofino, British Columbia. On the way, Ben stops by landmarks, which are both iconic and distinctive on his expedition to find the true meaning of his life.

This popular Hollywood film is about two girlfriends on a summer vacation in Spain getting attracted to the same guy who is a painter, unaware of the fact that his ex-wife is about to come into the picture.

12. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)

This 90’s travel movie revolves around two drag artists and a transgender female travelling across the desert to carry out their one of its kind style of cabaret dance.

13. The Road Within (2014)

This one is about a young chap with Tourette’s syndrome who goes on a road trip with his recently demised mother’s ashes.

14. Motorcycle Girl (2018)

It is a Pakistani movie, which is based on the ground-breaking motorcycle trip of Zenith Irfan who is just 20 years old, and is actually the first Pakistan female to have taken a solo road trip across the high altitude northern regions of the not so travelled country.

15. Into the Wild (2007)

After completing his graduation from the prestigious Emory University, Christopher McCandless leaves all his possessions, donates his complete savings of $24,000 and decides to hitchhike to Alaska to stay in the wilderness. On his way, Christopher comes across a numbers of characters that change his life.

One of the most seen Bollywood travel movies, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a movie about the relationship between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. It is beautifully shot film that will surely motivate you to book your air tickets and fly to the lands unexplored.

Just before her marriage, a young girl (Alia Bhatt) gets kidnapped midnight and kidnappers take her to different parts of India in an old truck. Slowly she starts developing a soft side for her kidnapper (Randeep Hooda).

British retirees decide travel to India to stay for a while in what they believe is a recently renovated heritage hotel. Fairly less lavish than advertised, the Marigold Hotel gradually starts to allure its guests in surprising ways. Set in Tuscany, Italy this classic travel movie revolves around a writer that impetuously purchases a gorgeous villa in the city with an intention to alter her life.

The list includes, Forest Grump, Gulliver Travels, Tamasha, Laila Majnu, 127 Hours, 3 Idiots, Tracks, 500 Days of Summer, Beach, Jagga Jasoos, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Seven Years in Tibet, and Chef (2014).
